Rhydlydan
A Welsh perry pear from Carmarthenshire.
Round pea green fruit, no flush, small amount of russet.
Flowers in mid April. Fruit drops late October to early November.
Discovered by Paul Davies as a lone tree at Rhydlydan Farm in Pumpsaint in 1994, whilst undertaking a Countryside Council for Wales survey of orchards.
A well balanced perry with good aroma, good enough to be used as a single variety as well as in blends.
Permission to use photograph by the Welsh Perry and Cider Society is gratefully acknowledged.
